Everyone, male and female alike, is invited to bake for the Art Show.  Customers, as well as we local goodie consumers here at CLC, will enjoy your efforts.

A Gospel Singing! When? Saturday, November 14, 2009, 5:30 pm. Where? At Calvary Lutheran Church, Murrysville, PA featuring Karen Papay singing and her husband Erny on piano. Come on over and enjoy an evening of “Sweet Recollections.” Old time hymns & great songs from the past. There will also be a special time of “fun songs” for the children!  This will be an interactive concert....you will be encouraged to sing along, clap your hands and tap your feet! My recently released CD “Sweet Recollections” will be available for purchase ($7.00). A portion of the CD sales will be donated to a charity chosen by the church. No ticket required....a “free will” offering will be taken. Hope to see you there!  “Come let us sing to the Lord: let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.” Psalm 95:1

Poinsettia order form - it’s that time of year to be thinking about ordering you poinsettias for Christmas to decorate our sanctuary. Orders are due November 30th. Make sure to turn your order form into the church office.

Brownie Girl Scout Troop will be meeting the 2nd & 4th Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Any further information needed please see Carol Rehkopf.

Prayer Pals: Your prayers are desired! We have 42 students enrolled at Calvary Early Learning Center. We are looking for 42 families from Calvary's congregation to commit to praying for one of these students throughout the school year. Prayer Pals will receive a photo of the child and some information about him/her. Please hang the picture in a place that will remind you to pray. You have the option to send a card or small gift at birthday or holiday time. You could mail it directly to the child or drop it off in the school office. Pick up your Prayer Pal packet on the table in the narthex.

Spiritual Gifts Reminder: please send Joy (CalvaryLut@windstream.net) a short email with your "top" spiritual gifts (2, 3, or a maximum of 4). Spiritual gifts assessment tool:   http://archive.elca.org/evangelizingchurch/assessments/spiritgifts.html

The Lutheran Witness: 2010 Lutheran Witness subscription rate will be $9.25 per year. Please submit your payment to Joy in the office immediately (past due).

Thank you everyone who donated candy for the Fall Festival.

The Red Cross would like to thank the group or individual from our congregation who made a generous donation to their emergency response division. The letter is posted on the bulletin board across from the water cooler.

"Pass the peace of the Lord at your own risk!"  On a precautionary note, please feel free to "bump knuckles" or give another type of acknowledgement instead of a hand shake or hug during the passing of the peace. H1N1 fears are all around. This affects God's people too.

Evening Ladies Bible Study will now be meeting at the Panera’s in Murrysville at 7 PM on Tuesday evenings.  New members are always welcome.

Pet Ministry -- On Veteran's Day we will be holding a service at the Flag Pole.  Service will be Nov 11 at 7 PM. The service will be to honor those who served and those who are presently serving to keep this country free. This is a wonderful time to give thanks for our freedom and we look forward to everyone attending this first service. Again "Thank You" from the Pet Ministry for all the help in making this possible. - Kathy Dunn.

Veterans Breakfast: The East Suburban Young Marines will be hosting their Annual Veterans Breakfast on November 7th between 7am and noon at the Monroeville American Legion Gold Star Post 820 located at 4339 Old William Penn Hwy.  This is a FREE breakfast for Veterans, past and present, and a guest.  Please contact Kimzey or Harrison Fox at 412.371.7476 or via email at Squatch_21061@yahoo.com for more information, or if you plan to attend.

School project - if you have happened to check out my project at donorschoose.org ~thank you. If you are overwhelmed by the amount still needed to fund my project, please know this...........any amount, even one dollar, is accepted as partial funding. Donations can be made at the website or a check can be mailed to donorschoose. Please see me if you have questions or would like some more information, Deb Weeks  The easiest way to get to my project, read about it, and donate if desired, is to do the following:  go to www.donorschoose.org  and click on See Projects in the upper right hand corner of the screen, then in a column on the  right hand side, find a small box called Keyword.  Into that box, type Rock, paper, scissors,.... go.  My project (with photo) should appear, as well as other projects with similar names.  Read all about the project, think about its ramifications, and if so moved, make a donation.  Thank-you in advance for your consideration of these efforts.  Thank you, Deb Weeks.

Redstone Highlands Christmas Extravaganza at the Gift Shop at 4951 Cline Hollow Road in Murrysville. Open to the public.....Thursday, Nov. 5; Friday, Nov. 6; Saturday, Nov. 7 from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Door prizes daily. Refreshments served.  Everyone is invited.

Ministry Opportunity is available to those desiring to visit shut-ins, the hospitalized, and the like. We will provide the training and you provide the desire. Please contact Bob Kemper or Pastor.

Prayer Shawl Ministry is a new mission/service ministry getting started at Calvary.  Because there are so many people in need of prayer and because we want to do more than just say we are praying for them, we are starting this ministry so that we are able to offer tangible evidence to those for whom we pray.  The shawls can be wither knitted or crocheted.  If you are interested in getting involved, please speak to Ruth Greer, 412-372-3315, ragreer@comcast.net

You can participate in our CHURCH BEAUTIFICATION project. The decorative tiles around our cross are available to purchase “in memory or honor of” a loved one for the cost of $120 per tile. THERE ARE ONLY THREE TILES REMAINING FOR FAMILY PURCHASE. This cost covers the tiles, installation, and a commemorative plaque to be placed in the back of the sanctuary at some future time.

Rest assured our future has been and always will be in God’s hands. He knows what is best for His people. SMALL GROUP/LIFE MINISTRY will be more and more important to strengthening our faith in Christ and caring for the people around us as this future unfolds. Train to lead a Life Group and plan to join one sooner than later. You will be blessed in the process. Do it today. See Bob Kemper or Pastor for more details.

Giving Plus Program Thrivent Financial’s Giving Plus Program is an excellent way to make a donation to Calvary Early Learning Center or the Sonshine Kitchen and have it matched $1 for every $2 donated. The program is available to all benefit members of Thrivent 16 years and older. Donations up to $600 to two different eligible organizations will be matched and can be made each year. A Giving Plus Form needs to accompany your check. Forms are available from Ruth Greer for Calvary Early Learning Center and Barb Stuffer for the Sonshine Kitchen. Any questions, please speak to Ruth Greer at (412) 372-3315.
